Dear collectors,

During the peak of the pandemic, the photography project I started at home was a project to photograph "bottles and glass products." Originally, I preferred shooting indoors or in a studio, but shooting with only a small table as the stage and using only natural light without any artificial light unexpectedly captivated me. I, on the contrary, was completely absorbed in that photography without ever getting bored.

While photographing “Still Lifes”, I realized that I was ultimately tracking light itself. I used applications that showed the sun's position to track the light.
Initially, I used large-format analog equipment to shoot, develop, and print on photographic paper. Later, I transitioned to the Photogravure technique and updated all my equipment to digital. While capturing the subtle gradations of analog photography, that is, silver halide film, became more difficult, I was actually pleased that digital equipment allowed me to quickly capture the ever-changing light in any situation.

From autumn through winter and into early spring, the light is weak, and the low-angled sunlight shines diagonally on the walls. In summer, the light creates strong shadows. The light on rainy summer days feels humid, while the gradations of light in the dry winter months are harsh. I often think, "It's about time I stopped, I should aim for a different motif!", but that light clings to me like an addictive habit I can't quit. So, what I had thought would be "just a little bit more"—photography “Chasing A Light” —seems to have become my main theme.
